Owls
"My children have been going to Owls since starting in foundation. My son is now year 6 and will be leaving in September. Owls is a home away from home and they have enjoyed every second of it. The staff are just lovely and have a smile on their faces
when we drop off in the morning, and always have time to tell you what the children have been doing or answer any questions you might have when you pick them up in the evening. My children love coming to Owls and would 100% recommend it to anyone who
is considering a before/after school club.”
Owls is a fantastic morning and afterschool service provided through Aspin Park Academy. It is set in a warm and welcoming part of the school and offers an inviting and nurtured setting. It is organised like home from home with television, music, ICT equipment, activities, library and kitchen. It has access to a small garden and developed an allotment which is close to school grounds. Children can readily access school resources and grounds during the hours of opening.
Value Statement
The ethos of OWLS is based on care, trust and honesty. The key values we hold are the nurture of others and understanding of how people feel. There is a
strong sense of respect, support and appreciation what is around us.
Mission Statement
OWLS strives to meet the needs of all children in our care and their parents. We want children to feel safe, secure and enjoy the experiences they have
when attending OWLS. Activities are planned to enable children to experience greater opportunities and take a natural ownership to discover, challenge and be creative outside of school. We aim to engage and capture the interests of children and take on board their views, ideas and opinions. We want children to develop culture, social, emotional and physical attributes as well as taking ownership of their time spent at OWLS with confidence and pride.
Owls Aims
- To help all children have fun.
- Offer a inspiring and motivational activities, which children enjoy
- Challenge and offer enrichened experiences and opportunities
- To have children who care and consider others, developing strong social and emotional values and a clear sense of people’s ways of life and beliefs
Activities and Events
Take care to organise, plan and prepare first-hand experiences. We want time at Owls to be memorable but also allow time for children to relax before and after school. The achievements and personal successes of every child are valued and celebrated throughout the year.
Doors are open from 7.30am. Children must be brought into Owls by an adult. At 8.30am children are taken to school by Owls staff who remain with them until we transition to school staff. Children will be collected from school at 3.15pm by OWLS staff and remain with staff at Owls until the close of Owls at 6pm.
Booking
Bookings are made in advance through our ParentPay system. Payment is made on booking. Ideally, bookings should be made a week in hand, but we appreciate that this is not always possible. Bookings or amendments can be made for morning OWLS up to 6.45 am and for the afternoon session up to 2.15pm. Cancellations are also made by yourselves through ParentPay. We are a cashless organisation and only offer electronic services for payments or card payments, based at the school office.
Breakfast and Snacks
We pride ourselves in delivering healthy breakfasts and snacks with the help of our Owls team. We offer a wide range of choice for the children and cater
for all dietary requirements. We like to involve parents as much as possible with ideas and choices.
